Like a frozen image

Description

"Stolen moments" , by Erik Pevernagie, oil on cardboard, 66 x 88 cm

If relationships have been pinned down like nails in the wall and do not renew themselves every moment, allowing us to change our mind’s core or improve our world vision, we are like frozen characters that remain only at the stage of “being” and do not develop into the instar of “becoming.

Let us drop our 'tin ears' and listen to the sounds of the 'real' world veiled beyond our inattention and overwhelmed by the smoke and mirrors of superficiality.

When we have the knack for listening to ourselves and hearing ourselves out without flinching, we can throw down willful deafness and self-deceit and meet up with our authentic selves.

For the outward shell and in the interest of "glitter and looks," many abandon their true self, freeze themselves into artificial postures, renounce realness, and take on fake appearances that disagree with their persona.

If we live through the eyes of others, we cannot enjoy an individual life. Our pathetic fate would be an impressive lack of authenticity, spontaneity, and candidness, which are cornerstones for living in open-mindedness.

In a world where we can be what we are and not what people expect us to be, we will never be deplorable worldwide-weary victims. Boredom often slips into revulsion if we fail to find an identity and acquire individuality with the quality of authenticity.

Let them not cold-call our attention, besiege our feelings, and disturb our dreams, those dealers in phony compassion selling wishful thinking through merchandising sentimental poppycock.

Phenomenon: Appeal to give up faking and living like a frozen image. Stimulation to live a ‘genuine' life and to build up an ‘authentic’ existence.

Factual starting point of the picture: Female body.
