Description

"Horizon and Vision" , by Erik Pevernagie, oil on canvas, 66 x 88 cm

What does lasting value mean in a society that is only interested in immediate results? How should we judge a community that simply takes short term projects in account and merely looks at a short-sighted horizon?

In point of fact, a clear vision goes beyond a misty horizon.

Through its mental dimension, the quality of vision stands out to the sheer physical, geographical or time-based horizon.

Material and technical changes are quite visible. But less visible are the changes in the mind of the people, their way of thinking, their conception of the world and also the quality of their fears. Proficient people are needed to attend the unreadable, anonymous torment of mutations.

Society watchers and whistle-blowers should be taken well care of. .

Phenomenon: Difference between short term and long term

Factual starting point of the picture: Man looking at the horizon/ Man with vision
