Description

"Waiting for Eureka" , by Erik Pevernagie, oil on cardboard, 88 x 66 cm

“Waiting for Eureka” is not waiting for some kind of gadget to be invented. It is waiting for the moment the scattered pieces of one’s life can be assembled, eventually. It is looking forward to finding the parts of a complex set, which are indispensable, in view of enlivening and furnishing the expectations for the future.

Eureka is the embodiment of the magic moment that tells us, that we have found what we have been waiting for. Eureka can also be an answer to a question we have never asked. It can be simply a radiant sunbeam that illuminates, out of the blue, a dim and desolate life. It opens a new horizon and discloses a surprising universe.

For a gazillion of people Eureka can represent a fortunate or lucky encounter with friends, who let us be what we are in our imagination: original and undifferentiated.

On the path to Eureka we may anticipate some tough thinking, distress and slips. Serendipity can play a crucial role.
