If our feelings clash with our perceptions, and we cannot breathe anymore, below the leaden sky of a harsh reality, we have to kill the dormant virus of lassitude, punch the air and propel us on a new course, taking back a genuine interest in the world, and create an open space to overcome the impairment of emotional thinking.

We are all in favor of emotional intelligence. Intelligence can take emotion as a privileged counseling partner. However, it does not allow emotion to take possession of us, besiege our minds, and subjugate our thinking. Emotion must regulate our thoughts, not manipulate nor substitute them. Our perception is only a biased picture of reality, and emotions are individual or provisional. Therefore, critical thinking and emotional thinking must go hand in hand.

The stranded, walking a fine line between reality and illusion, are constantly weaving through disappointment and hope. They never stop dreaming of empathy and good feeling and crave attention and endorsement.

We should not look away when people feel entrenched in their emotional ghetto. We must not leave them smothering in their loneliness but give them solidarity.

People living with Aids are no monsters we must avoid. They should not hide and need no pity either. They only deserve friendship and understanding.

If they stand in front of a point of no return, reaching the ultimate phase of the fatal disease and confronting the utter existential gate, people should not look away but give sympathy and compassion.

At this point, hide no monsters.
