Description

"On a casual day without a tie" , by Erik Pevernagie, (130 x 80 cm), oil on canvas

Let us loosen up some time and take a break to re-calibrate our life. We need no endless over-thinking, though. Let us now connect the dots, set the scene, and steam ahead.

If we want to decode our community's deep-seated fibers, we must go and see the world and explore the many distinctions and resemblances. To find out about the inner self and understand our internal murmurings, we must learn to reach out to the others.

Roger. Vancampenhout writes:

An indefinite happening may occur in the routine life of an unspecified person. As he passes by, he seems to be an individual integrated into society, dressed in a tie, a symbol of male integration.

He has maybe "programmed" an event for the day, but changes his mind. Perhaps he wants to do something else and be free and released from the yoke of the red tape. He seems to have the will to do so.

Modern man may be constricted by many obligations, but preserves his freedom: an ephemeral determination to take command of his destiny.

This linear, angular universe allows junctions and sets out prospects. It looks for new directions like the labyrinth seeks its exit."

Phenomenon : Routine, destiny, freedom

Factual starting point : Man and tie
